Guided Triangle Breath Rhythm
Lean back and let yourself be guided by the Triangle Breath, which visually grows larger on inhalations, smaller on exhalations, and remains calm on the breath hold after the exhalation. Exactly as the movement inside and outside of you while breathing 24/7 all day all life.
Why not Box breathing?
For sure, you have have heard about the exercise "Box Breathing". It is an exercise that is often recommended and used in many contexts.
In my breathing book it is a fairly advanced exercise, that requires you to have really good control of your breathing. This applies to both your breathing mechanics, i.e. your 3D breathing, which is your design. And it applies to your biochemical ability, i.e. your CO2 tolerance.
During the breath holds in Box Breathing, you accumulate CO2, which is super good for most people, if your biochemistry can handle it. It is a training issue that is closely related to your biomechanics and a number of other factors.
Many people experience dizziness, discomfort, shortness of breath among other symptoms when performing the traditional Box Breathing. Therefore, I am now giving you MY favorite and alternative, and a place to start (or maybe stay) - The Triangle Breath.
With Triangle Breathing, the breath hold is AFTER THE EXHALATION. This is where most people can begin practising a breath hold. Where the nervous system is activated in a calm state (parasympathetic). An inhalation stimulates the fight-flight response (sympathetic), where exhalation stimulates the calm response (parasympathetic).
It is important that you spend some time finding the rhythm that fits your breath for a start 🫁💜
Instructions:
- You breathe in with a conscious calm breath, while the flower grows larger...
- Then you breathe out calmly, while the flower becomes smaller...
- At the end of the exhalation, you hold your breath, while the flower is still and not moving...
- Take some time to find the right rhythm for you, where you are right now... (it can and will change a little from day to day and over time)
- Enjoy the calm 💜
Use it as an adult, for children, for all ages.
You should also know the simple Breathing Flower, which is the place to start.
You will find all the variations of the Triangle Breath below. Please save them somewhere where you can quickly find the one you want.
